How To Link Your Facebook Account To Your EpicSki Account
- Log out of your EpicSki account
- On the logged out page, you'll see the area to enter your user name and password to log in. Below that, you'll see the link to "Connect with Facebook." Click here.

- A popover will appear asking you to enter your Facebook credentials (or in other words, your log in information for Facebook - your email address and Facebook password). If you are already signed into Facebook, you will not need to do this as it will already be detected.
- On the next page, you will see two options. You will be able to create a brand new EpicSki account with your Facebook account, or you can link your two existing accounts. You will want to link your two accounts. Enter your EpicSki user name and password and click "Link Accounts."

- Your two accounts will now be linked, preserving Your List, your reviews, your forum posts, etc.
- On your logged in home page, you will see you are still identified with your original EpicSki user name. You'll also notice a message to remind you that for the best performance, make sure to log in with your Facebook credentials from now on by clicking the Connect via Facebook link rather than just entering your user name and password in the conventional fields. Even more ideally, if you log in to Facebook and click the "Remember Me" checkbox there when you do, you will be kept logged in to both sites seamlessly.
For New Users:
- On the logged out page, you'll see the area to enter your user name and password to log in. Below that, you'll see the link to "Connect with Facebook." Click here.

- A popover will appear asking you to enter your Facebook credentials (or in other words, your log in information for Facebook - your email address and Facebook password). If you are already signed into Facebook, you will not need to do this as it will already be detected.
- On the next page, you will see two options. You will be able to create a brand new EpicSki account with your Facebook account, or you can link your two existing accounts. You will want to create a new account with your Facebook credentials. Click "New Account."

- On the next page, you are welcome to add products to Your List. When you're done, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save."
- You will be then taken to your new home page where you will see you will now be identified around the site with your Facebook credentials.
- From now on, always log in with your Facebook credentials by clicking Connect via Facebook in the top right corner of all pages. If you use Facebook's "Remember Me" function, you will automatically be logged into EpicSki.
What does "Facebook User (Private)" mean?
As you're poking around the site, you'll see a few different kinds of user names.
- Fully registered EpicSki users like XYZski or ILoveSkiing55: These users have registered directly with EpicSki.com. They may or may not have connected their accounts with Facebook. However, if you are Facebook friends with them and they HAVE connected their accounts, they will show up on your friends list.

- Facebook users identified by their full names like Mary Johnson or John Doe: These users have registered using their Facebook accounts. Their privacy settings are set so that you can see their names. However, they might have their privacy set so that only their friends can see their avatars.

- Facebook users marked as "FB User (Private)": These users have registered using their Facebook accounts. Their privacy settings are set very high so that only their Facebook friends or other Facebook users can see their names. EpicSki respects the privacy settings of Facebook users. However, please keep in mind that these users are unaware that they are currently being displayed with their full name hidden. Also keep in mind they're not getting anything special or "private" other than the ability to post their posts and reviews to their Facebook feed.

How Can I Message A Facebook User?
Unfortunately at the moment, it is not currently possible to send a Facebook user a private message. You can send them Bulletin Board messages, however, which they will receive via email if they have verified their email address.
If that Facebook user has their privacy settings such that you can access their public Facebook listing, you can also message them directly through Facebook. Please note that some Facebook users appear as "Facebook User (Private)" when you are not logged into Facebook Connect but do reveal that information to logged in users.
Publishing To Your Facebook Wall:
- With an account created via Facebook or a linked account, you can now share your forum posts or your product reviews with the world!
- On your review or forum editor, you will see a check box at the bottom to publish your content to your Facebook feed. If you would like to publish this review or post, check the box. If you do not wish to publish your review or post, leave the box unchecked. We will remember your most recent setting for the next forum post or review you write.
- The first time you do this, you will get a popover asking for additional permissions. By granting EpicSki these additional permissions, you will be able to publish your reviews and posts simply by checking the check box (and avoiding any popovers which display previews of your feed post).
- But don't worry! If you don't want to give the site these permissions, you can still publish to your Facebook feed. But each time you check the "Publish" check box, you'll get a popover asking you to preview the post and confirm prior to publishing. This is an example of the preview popover:
- After you publish a post or a review, it will appear on your Facebook feed.

Help! It keeps asking me to link my Facebook account and I can't log in with my normal EpicSki account.
If you are visiting EpicSki and are presented with the following screen, you most likely began the Facebook Connect process and now have a cookie set to remember this setting.Once you initiate the Facebook Connect process by clicking the "Connect with Facebook" button underneath the site login and confirm you would like to connect your account on the popover (by clicking the "Connect" button), effectively Facebook considers you connected and places a cookie to remember this setting. Even if you do not fully complete the connect process by creating a new account or linking to an existing account, your Facebook account will continue to communicate with EpicSki. Once this happens, you will continue seeing prompts to finish the Facebook Connect process.
If you would like to connect your account to your existing EpicSki account, follow these instructions.
If you would like to no longer have EpicSki and your Facebook account communicating, unlink your account.
