Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib

Talk to me about the Arc'teryx Theta SV Bib.  Wasn't really looking for a bib style pant (that's for you old men out there, although even my dad is moving away from the bib nowadays)

They're the only ones in stock on my size at 3point5, obviously they're ridiculously nice pants and would be a screaming deal at the $200 I can get them for but argggggh why do they have to be a bib.

Do you prefer bib style or otherwise in your ski pants?

I've been using bibs forever. I think they do a better job of keeping the snow out and your pants up. Nothing comes untucked midrun and you get those bonus pockets up high.

I have a pair of Alpha bibs. The articulation and fit are incredible. They are great at keeping me dry and warm, but they lack built in gaiters so I'd pass on them for big mountain days. I'd jump on the Theta's for $200, though.

Another bib user here.  I've got a pair of the Theta SV bibs and am pretty happy with them.  The only thing I don't like is the lack of pockets. the two chest pockets are pretty small but the Stinger Bibs were out of stock everywhere (mine came as a replacement from Gore due to delaminating fabric on my old bibs).  If you want to try and get something from 3point5 you pretty much need to watch it regularly as the seasons change and new product is being shipped out to dealers, in these economic times nobody is producing much beyond the preseason orders.

Yeah, I emailed the Arc'teryx rep and he said in the next couple weeks there should be more coming in so I dunno.  Go with the Theta bib or wait and risk getting nothing.  Plan is to go to a store tomorrow and check out the Theta bib in person.

I mean I have an old pair of Columbias that are ripped at the bottom where I caught a small tree so anything is going to be an upgrade and you can't really beat the quality of the Theta....just would prefer something that's not a bib.

I have the minuteman bibs, and the Theta SK.  Both are great (very similar bibs).  But, it sounds like you already know what you want in that you say you don't want a bib.  $200 for something you don't want isn't a good deal.  You can get a good quality pant for less than that if you look around.
