Instructor suggestion for Smuggler's Notch or Stowe?

Hello all -

I am a strong skier and former ski instructor.  I took a while off and am now learning to turn a more modern ski.  I seem to be doing okay and I am starting to adapt my technique, but I think I would really benefit from a couple hours with a good high level instructor.

I will be in Smuggs / Stowe in a couple of weeks - any suggestions on who to see?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Alex

Contact Erik Timmerman, epic on this website. He would be terrific for you I'm sure.

Also Josh Matta, BushwhackerInPA would be another good choice.  Both of these guys are at Stowe.

Dave Merriam is the SSD (ski school director). If you could get an hour with him, you'd be blown away and might get a job offer. Stowe has dozens of level 3 cert pros on staff in addition to Bush and Epic, including examiners. It's hard to choose. My former SSD at Whitetail, Mark Goodman, is also at Stowe. He's been known to crank a few turns.

You know what was really funny Rusty. Mark had to 'team teach" before he was allowed to teach. It ended up being with me. It was just routine but i found it funny that someone was suppose to learn something off of me when they had been a full cert for longer than I had been alive.

Why funny? Mark probably did not have to take ITC at Stowe. Yet there are always things to do at a resort that are specific to that resort's school and no matter how great one's rep is, you never know how good a pro they are until you watch. When you're a level 3, you're supposed to be able to make improvements in skiers who ski better than you do. Works the same in clinics/team teaching.

I have skied with Skiswift at Stowe.....unfortunately, he is very booked, and difficult to schedule. I know he has cut back his hours.

He was originally recommended by several people on Epic.
