Anybody skied in Alaska in April?

Anybody skied in Alaska in April? How's the weather, snow, what's the best place to go? I'm looking for some backcountry resort with a chance for heli-skiing and currently have no idea what are the conditions there in April.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Alyeska Resort is probably your best bet.  It is in Girdwood about 40 miles southeast of Anchorage and it's the biggest resort in the state.  They also offer heli and cat skiing.  There is also Eaglecrest in Juneue but it is smaller than Alyeska and I'm not sure about heli-skiing

April can still have storms, but less so than earlier in the season, and there is decidly more sun. In fact, days are longer there already than you'll see most anywhere on a ski day. Not only are the days longer, but there is more sunshine and less clouds than mid season. Usually, the base peaks in depth right around the beginning to mid April.

I'm not sure, what do you mean by backcountry resort?

Backcountry - I meant resort providing a lot of opportunities for off-track skiing, with lots of powder fields and tree skiing.

Thanks!

Nice long days in April.  CPG stops flying in Girdwood, mid April.
