So I see skis advertised as powder skis that attack big mountain? So does this mean they allow for a traditional stance even in Powder? At 230lbs its hard to find a ski that floats me in the tight trees at slower speeds. Im going to try the Obsethed later this week 189. I was told this is a ski I should try even with my wieght skiing in the stance I have thats a more groomer carving form. Also will stifer ski boots @ 120 flex. The moral of this story is its always been more difficult for big guys to ski powder as good as lighter guys. Its just simple phisics. No differant than water skiers. Sure you get enough speed up and anything can float but in the trees it takes a special kinda ski to do that for big guys. Unless your 220-250lbs you wouldnt under stand that. But its true in 2-4ft of powder.
Have any of you big guys out there ever experianced this and what ski have you found that floats best at med speeds in the trees and just slays the powder in the bowls at mach Snell? i dont want a ski that I have to lean back a bit on or mount farther back ect....!! I just want to slay the pow like im on a groomed run, slash huck, float and feel the pillowy splendid white stuff skiing over it not hitting bottom getting face shot were light guys arnt!! Today in 2ft of powder every turn I felt the bottom of the runs hard packed under foot. I was up to my knees were the lighter guys were up to there ankes skiing a smoother run on the same run! Not fare. Seths do it ya think? Or what are your sugestions for a Powder ski that still gets you to the lift on a groomed run out trail with confidents? Kantana,ARG, Seth, Motherships, Tryed goats there OK still not fat enough under foot for my liking. perhaps the shamen? Sugestions?
