Volkl AC30 vs. Atomic Smoke Ti vs. K2 ShockWave

Hi!

I am looking for skis which are something like 70% pist / 30% off pist.

I was looking on those 3 models but not tried them yet. Just need a little feedback from people try those models.

Many thanks!

I demo'd the AC30 recently after reading review after review. I did not like them and knew it after the first run.  For me it seemed like way to much work in order to get the ski to work.

I switched from the AC30 to the Shockwave and wow what a difference.  A lot of smiles, effortless turning, good edge grip, and was great through chop and crud.   I would call myself a level 7 skier; maybe a level 10 might not like these skis after reading all of the comments about being "dead", "lifeless" and "boring." For me, they inspired confidence and were smooth, stable, and predictable all the way up to my personal speed limit.

This was my first time on a K2.  I will be buying a pair once prices come down a little. Until then, I am trying to decide between the Shockwave and Rictor.  I've read great things about the Rictor, but its hard not to buy a ski I didn't want to take off my feet.

Hope that helps some.

I would be curious to know which size you tried and how big you are.

As most know by now, I love my AC30's and knew I had to have a pair after 2 runs on a demo. For me they are very easy to ski, forgiving yet encourages you to ski harder. But as the old saying goes different strokes for different folks. The best bet for everyone is to demo before you buy.

Is that about 210 lbs and 6' 1" or so? What length ski did you try? I bought the 170 and as stated over and over I love these skis!

I love my AC30s at 170cm 6 foot 200lbs.  Great grip and carves well on east coast hard pack groomed and moguls.  Great ski in knee deep powder at Jackson Hole last year.  Best all mountain ski I have ever owned.   The AC30s replaced my Volkl 5 stars and older medium width Volkl AC4s.

In waist deep powder I would switch to my 95mm waist  178cm Rossi skis.  How often does that happen.  We can only hope.
