My girlfriend took her first lesson at Park City Mountain Resort. It was her first time on skis, ever, and she loved it. Now that we're back in New England, I'm trying to find a good mountain within a day's trip from Boston where she can practice. Preferably one that has a good ski school (she's a level 2 or 3 according to http://skiing.about.com/od/downhillskiing/a/abilitylevels.htm) and a beginner area that is away from the crowds. Having some very easy trails up high on the mountain (so she can enjoy the scenery -- she never made it past the "first time" area in PCMR) would be a plus, but not necessary.
Mt. Cannon is one of my favorite places to ski, and I recall the Tuckerbrook family area being a great place to avoid the faster skiers. However, it's been years since I've been there and I have never taken lessons there. How is the ski school there? Do they have a good package for her level?
In browsing threads on this forum, it appears that some other good options include Okemo, Stratton, Waterville Valley, Berkshire East, and Sunapee. Any thoughts on those?
