Skis for my better half

Hi guys,

I finally convinced my lady to try some girl's specific skis on the free demo day on Mt Hood Meadows. She is a solid intermediate, chooses moderate speed and blue groomed. She is 5'5'', her weight she keeps for herself despite my very reasonable explanation that it is a "need to know" detail but my guess would be 130-140lbs. Her current skis 154 Rossi Zenith 5 2006 model. The demo day was ~10'' fresh and all groomed runs were pretty much full of chopped snow. She tried couple of skis, both in 152cm length:

1. Salomon Origins Diamond Z10 TI, 120-76-104, 11.4m radius - verdict: heavy, busting through the chopped stuff and lays nice arcs. No steering necessary, just Fire-and-Forget, remember to switch edges

2. Dynastar Exclusive Idyll with NX11 Fluid bindings,124-78-106, 14m radius - very light but yet stable and floaty, keeps her steady in the chopped.

Both much more floaty than her 68mm Rossis, but lightness of the Idyll was a contributing factor. So here we are and I'm looking for the Idyll in 152 with NX11 and some damage control if possible.

any other ideas will be appreciated as well

Can you give a little detail on how she feels about the current skis (a pretty heavy ski if I recall) and what she wants out of a new set (better on ungroomed, something to progress to more expert terrain?)

Depending on the answers she might want to give something with a slightly wider waist a shot - K2 Lotta luv, Salomon Lady, Rossi S80w.

Also - if she has the Z5 with integrated bindings, has she tried moving the binding forward? That may change the feel of the ski.

She likes the Z5's on the very hard groom days, the one we had yesterday. She says it's very stable and handles the hard pack very well. But on the regular day when the groomers are covered with some soft snow which is chopped she says that Z5 iz sinking and gets pretty hard to control.

The demo day was exactly that - groomed runs were full of chopped fresh snow and the Idyll was her favorite - she just didn't want to give it back to the rep.

Regarding the comment about the binding position - this is actually another point which she doesn't like. The bindings are too much forward for her and she says that she has the feeling that the tails are too long (her words).

I couldn't get her wider skis in her size - i wanted her to try Eden or S80w but these were enjoed buy someone else

Thanks for the thoughts,

Vlad

Thanks to SierraJim and StartHaus for getting the 152cm Dinastar Exclusive Idyll with NX11 Fluid bindings. Great service, great price and lightning fast shipment.
