Vail Free Parking/Shuttle Information

I moved to Denver during the Spring and will be taking my first trips to Vail in the upcoming weeks. My pass allows 10 days at Vail/Beavercreek and I am anxious to start using them.

I have read that parking is $25 for all day...that is out of the question. I even park and take the free shuttle at Breck...yes, I am cheap. wink.gif

Can someone give me the lowdown on free parking and the shuttle service for the Vail area? I have done some research and found plenty of areas that have parking...some have 8 parking spots, others have more...one even has 70 spots. I would like to know the BEST area to park that will give me good shuttle access and is fairly close to the mountain. Since I have never been there before, I do not want to show up and drive around for an hour looking for places to park.

Thanks!!!

We often park in Donovan and walk over to the Cascade lift instead of waiting for the shuttle. Others like Sandstone because you can walk over the bridge to Lions Head.

If you're there mid-week, parking in any of the free spaces shouldn't be too difficult. If you're going on a weekend (especially a powder weekend), get there by 8AM otherwise you'll most likely have to park on the frontage road.

Thanks...I had already found that site you linked but it is hard to tell how close everything truly is.

So how far of a walk is it to the lift from the Donovan parking area?

Sandstone looks good now that you mention it...but looks like it only has 15 spaces. I am sure those fill up quick.  Do you know if they designate any spots for handicap parking?

The walk in ski boots to the Cascade lift from Donovan is about 10 mins, mostly flat with a small hill at the end. It's a 2 min walk from Donovan to the shuttle stop at Matterhorn but we're too impatient to wait for the shuttle.

I have no idea about how quickly Sandstone fills up as we usually head for Donovan and also don't know about handicap parking. You could contact Vail Transportation to ask about that (vailtransit@vailgov.com).
