Im in Washington and have no one to ski with.. HELP..? IDEAS...?

Alright, so here is the deal;

I moved to Kennewick WA in October for a job after living in Colorado.

I am now skiing here in WA and I am quite impressed with the mountains. So far I have only been to Bluewood and White Pass.. After all the wining from the locals here about the mtns i was ready to be very disapointed..  But the mtns are awesome! with 4 feet of snow in 24 hours how can you not be stoked.

So here lies the problem... I just cant afford to ski as much as I would like. Because I am new to the area and surrounded by resorts in every direction I didnt buy a ski pass... But that is only half the problem. The driving is the realy expense.   It costs me about $60 to drive to the mountain and back.. so spending $120 for every day i want to ski is just crazy.

I looked into ski clubs and such here and also on craigslist for rides and cant seem to find much.

anyone have any ideas on how i can ski cheaper?  any cheap places to stay at northwest mtns

I hate to break it to you, but you moved to about the worst place in Washington for skiing. The tricities isn't really close to anything, and doesn't have much of a ski culture.

Good luck.

The dry *hitties! My parents grew up there. I have many fond memories. My uncle used to do a lot of skiing (from Richland) but I don't think he does much anymore. He's the kind of guy who would totally carpool, too. He's summited Rainier more times than I can count. Anyway, I'm not much help--sorry, but glad to hear you're finding the skiing to your liking! Stevens Pass is a favorite in WA. My nephew boards there a lot, but he's in the Wenatchee area, so no carpool opportunities there, either. Keep poking around--I think you'll find something that works. Keep posting on CL and maybe post a notice at the local ski shop, if they'll allow it? Did you ask them about either group trips or carpooling? You might check with local churches, too.

It's about 3000 miles from him.  This is the real Washington he's talking about.  The one with mountains.

For the OP, check to see if there is a ski club in town.  If there is you should get involved.  They offer trips, but more importantly you meet other skiers who you could work out rides with.

Come up to Spokane, 5 resorts within 1:45 driving. Can stay fairly cheap in the winter anywhere around here.

Could always do a ski bus to save cash: http://www.bluewood.com/PIN/Tickets/TriCitiesSkiBus/tabid/642/Default.aspx

No ski bus from Tri-Cities to White Pass?

Found a local ski club on Google, for you: http://sites.google.com/site/anotherdesertskiclubsite/home

I did find that ski bus thing to Bluewood.. But you have to prepay for the whole season.. If it was something you could just show up for i would be there.. (might try that anyway).

I did not see a ski bus to white pass.. I am googling it now
