Line EP pro or Atomic Bent Chetler?

Hi,

me: 5'4, 115lbs, intermediate skier that is impoving. Ski at Alta on about 60/40 off piste/on piste.

I am skiing on Rossignol Viper x1 that are 140cm and 62mm wide. Time for a new pair.

I need skis that I can use for a while.

I have narrowed my options down to the Line EP Pro Shorty in 155cm (107mm wide) and the Atomic Bent Chetler Mini in 153 in length and 90mm in width. I am wondering if the Lines will be too much ski for me but the Bent Chetler may be too narrow for powder. I am going to start doing more and more off piste as I improve through the years but I don't want something too wide for when I go on the occasional groomer or very tracked out snow.

What's your vote?

Are you a teen and still growing, or just smaller?  I'm assuming a teen and still growing but it's impossible to tell from your post.

My vote is for neither of these.  These both may well be too short and not stiff enough for you to use "for a while".  They might be fun when you first get on them, but I feel like you will quickly outgrow them as you progress.

Both of these are rockered twintips and will ski way shorter than their length.  At 5' 4" (164cm) you should be on a ski that is a bit longer if it will be used in powder and crud.  Something around 160cm would be better than mid 150's.

I just picked up some Rossi S7 Pro skis. They are 160cm long and I got them to grow into. Will these be too long now? and how long will it take for me to get used to them?

The S7 skis very short.  I think they will be fine for you.  I'm 5'9 170 lbs and skiing the 188 across a broad range of conditions.  I typically ski boards in the 176-183 range these days, but found the 176 S7 to be way too short when I demoed it last season.  It was really fun, but I could tell immediately that it was too short.

If you are about to grow, the 168 might be better as you start to bulk up.  From reading your other posts I doubt that you have the technical chops for the 168 at this time though.

I'm assuming you got the S7 Pro Junior model?  160cm won't be too long as this ski is a twin and has rocker in both the tip and tail so it should ski short.

Have fun on them!

I skied those yesterday and probably today and they felt much better in powder and I like them way better than my skis but sometimes my tips would cross. Also chopped up snow really got too me.

A lot of the jumps and cliffs I want to try it isn't that they are too big it is that I will be FLYING after I land and will probably be out of control, especially on bumpy (not necassaraly moguls) run outs.

Any tips for this?
