We need a light thread. Things have been a little sad around here.
I like best the kind of powder we get in the Sierra Nevada sometimes. It is about a foot deep and came in with some wind. It has a little moisture to give it some body. Even though it is a foot deep, you just ski the top 4 inches or so. It is utterly quiet and smooth as silk. You actually can carve it and for high speed it can't be topped. In steep sections it holds, not sluffing or slabbing out. there is no danger of slab avalanche. It's just the bestand makes you feel like this, so you make huge arc to arc turns with a big smile on your face. back at the lift, noticing everyone is high, wow is all you have to say.
for lack of imagination I call it dense.
