Ski in France / Alps

Thread Starter

New Englander living in Paris for the year.  The thought of being so close to the mountains and not skiing this winter is killing me - but I have no idea where to go!   Any ideas/tips?  Will travel up to 6 or 7 hours to get there.

Thanks & happy tracks.

The world's largest ski complexes, Trois Vallees and Val d'Isere/Tignes, are obvious choices.  Chamonix was my first Euro trip in 2004: TR's toward the bottom of the page http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=5&start=50.

I also skied La Grave in 2008, that's for the hard core, need to be guided all the time there.  My feature article: http://www.firsttracksonline.com/News/2008/12/5/La-Grave-France-with-Extremely-Canadian/

There are many more places.  Take advantage!  March is generally the best month, but you should really be out there every chance you can get with so many vast ski areas to choose.

Take the TGV from Paris to Tignes/Val d'isere (Bourg St Maurice).
