Went to Sunapee today with Marcia and Daria.  No crowds, sweet machine groomed hardpack.

Felt like taking a head count in the lodge for how many people were going out for Chinese food tonight.

New ski toys:  With some help from Phil, a little StormDay was on some new reverse camber skis today.

Merry Christmas from the StormDays.

Skied at Bretton Woods today. Conditions were the best Christmas Day conditions I've seen in the last five years. Hardly any crowds and plenty of snow on the trail and in the trees.

New boots - Salomon Mission 8's - almost the same as my old X-wave 8's.  Stuck in a rut, I guess.

Snowbasin pix looks awesome, 4ster.  Trying to decide where to ski on Monday - that looks tempting.

Skied at Vail today (something of a tradition).  Some of the runs we did had pretty crummy snow, but we did find some good stuff and by hiking just a few minutes, we got some untracked pow.  So it was a good day =)

Pictures and video on my camera, but no mini USB cable in the house.  Doh!

I taught a rugby playing, computer programmer from Kenya to ski today!  It was a blast!  This is going to be one of my all time favorite lessons.

No skiing on snow today but here is Daniel "carpet skiing" in the family room on his new gear.

Skied Breckenridge today.  Snow was hard,  but not icy anywhere that I could find.  Managed to find some nice snow off the Imperial lift this afternoon.  Hate to complain,  but..... I really enjoy skiing on new snow.  drool.gif

My 16 y.o. found the limitations of his new wider boards (High Society FR's):  said the tails were hooky in the bumps.  I tried to tell him..... nonono2.gif

Went skiing on 12/24th to Mt Hood Meadows, light crowds, great skiing weather - high overcast, no wind, upper 20-ies. Perfect groom day, a bit hard off the groom. Snow started after the lunch but that time was dedicated to the Buttercup skiing with our 4yo, she was linking her pizza turns :)

In Bend now, hoping to get some powder on Monday - storm suppose to start tonight...

Merry Christmas,

Vlad

Perfect day in Park City-  sunny, soft groomers, crisp snow, warm temps- upper 30's- still lots of powder stashes around from the 5' we got this last week- uncrowded, but not for long- did a little helmet test today (see Gear) all's well that end's well. A little more snow expected tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Cold and clear, with hard snow at Alyeska this Christmas.

Great scenery, small turnout, but we need new snow.

Hasn't snowed for a couple of weeks. Maybe tonight.

We got home from CO around 9:30 Chrismas Eve, so I was glad Bristol didn't open yesterday until noon. Skied for about 3 hours or so then went to my Brother's for Christmas dinner. Thanks to the modern miracle of snowguns (and cold temps), the whole mountain is open. It ain't Colorado, but it's home and race season starts next weekend! Today will probably be a lemming day (snow in the backyard), so I'll switch to my slalom skis as the crowds grow.

No new ski gear, but I'm pretty well set for now.

They sure look great in the living room, and right now New England is getting hit with a Northeaster dropping 20 inches. Yahoo!

I skied my new MX88's at Northstar, the conditions were great, zoomer groomers and chalky cut up snow in the woods.

Took the day off from skiing but rode the Gold Runner Coaster at Breck. It didn't make me scream, but it was fun! I'm glad someone else paid.

Santa knows I have more ski gear than is right, but I did get a nice new digital camera to photograph it (and video the skiing) with. I might even post a video of me in the trees! Ha ha!

Skiied Breckenridge. Lots of hardpack and moguls. Took a hike to the back 9 and enjoyed a few turns in untracked cream cheesy goodness. Came home and had homemade pork carnitas and beer. Best Christmas ever? Except for not being with my family, it ranked up there (only would have been better if it had been a powder day).

Freezing rain instead of promissed 10 - 20 inches of powder...

Skied at Mt Holly in Michigan on Christmas day. 350ft vertical. Quite different to the WA Cascades.

My Christmas gift is on its way: Watea 98. Thanks dawgcatching!

Great skis, have Mike DiSantis grind them and they'll be even better!

Very cool.  I love lessons like that.  Still hold on to the feelings of that lesson 3 or so years ago that I wrote that article for the PSIA magazine on.  Changing someone's life is not something to take lightly!

For me it was giving my fiance her brand new Rossi S3's (which she already knew about) with about 5 waxings already done to them.

And my gift is that my shoulder is healing very quickly, Dixie cup ice, hot tub jet massage, Advil every two hours -  priceless.  Even thinking about taking in some of the snow coming this week - or at the very least will be teaching this weekend.  (But no helping up adults.)

Sideways and downhill.

My wife and I bought cross country skis for each other for Christmas.

I said Merry Kastle-mas with a pair of MX-98s for myself :) I may have to give them a try after this current storm.

She got a new MacBook Pro as well.

Nothing ski related in the holiday haul, other than the lovely Nor'easter and its blanket of white.... which blocked up our driveway a bit here in north-central CT.  We've cleared it now, so tomorrow I hit the slopes.  Mount Snow is dropping rope on the North Face trails, so there should be some freshies available to those who are willing to queue up early [raises hand].

I did get some winter cycling gear, though, which is always welcome (I cycle more than I ski most winters - such is the mid-Atlantic life for those on a budget!).

Hi Bears:

Best Christmas gift for awhile.  JUST skied blue trails (and I mean "BLUE", since I'm skiing a 600 ft hill) for the first time for 2 hours after my torn calf muscle.  Had a blast just being able to ski again.  One never appreciates and realizes what a blessing it is to be able to ski, even when it is "SLOWLY"  and "GINGERLY" on "BLUE" trailsicon14.gif.  I considered myself blessed.  So yes, it did GO DOWNHILL on Christmas Dayyahoo.gif.

Think snow,

Great news Charlie!  Yes any skiing is a blessing.   I ski in the mornings during the week at a local hill - mostly people in their 70's and up.  They enjoy skiing the easy groomers as much as I enjoy skiing powder at Vail.   I actually do too!  Warren Miller answer to the question "what's the best place you've ever skied?"  "Wherever I'm skiing right now."
