Think your a good tree skier? your not..... - Page 4

Trees are my favorite place to ski. The contrasts and beauty of the scene make it the best (light) on and after the storms.

Heavently has excellent tree skiing but it cost Sonny Bono his life. I love the 'Big Burn' area in Snowmass, too.

Red Cedars at Schweitzer are scented. Skiing by snow ghosts is a rare treat.

No, I haven't hit a tree hard, yet.

I hit one today, ....

Just before it tried to hit me.

A play on the New Hampshire state motto:

Live Tree or Die

Regardless of any gnar-o-meter text or prairie hen puffery, the 2nd vid got me and 2 other 50-ish locals excited enough to drive from North Shore to Heavenly during the Christmas Holiday Craziness just to play in the trees plus Mott and Killebrew Canyons today. Please feel free to post other motivational vids with any title you choose...

I'm a bit late. It seems that everyone has already chimed in and the debate is irrelevamt at this point. Nevertheless, I have to say I didn't find the title offensive. The "Your [sic] not..." wasn't directed at anyone in particular, so I see nothing to get rankled about.

Personally, I enjoyed the heck out of watching both videos. The skiing was very good and the lines and terrain were pretty gnar, but compared to me, those guys suck. I no longer own a helmet cam though or you'd see how true it is. My lines are too tight and my melon too close to the thick bark where I shred the forest. I did have a VIO POV for a while, but the recording unit took up too much space next to the thermos in my chest pocket. Sometimes, while I'm shredding moderate lines like those in the video, I like to pull out my thermos and pour a latte as I'm punching trough the lower angle hardwood. It helps me relax a bit so I can focus before I hit a few stands of giant timber bamboo I planted several years back (which has propagated nicely). I shred steep timber bamboo gnar while pouring a latte, yes, but I won't say all the rest of you suck, even though it would be true if I did.

That being said, BWPA and his friends are cool with me and welcome to shred my secret timber stash anytime as long as they leave those fatass cheater skis home for a change, then I'll set you guys up to take some REAL video!

Wonderful to see your smiling face Don.  I hope you're feeling well.  You will be missed on the slopes this season.

Not really. As long as I remember not to fill the thermos right to the top, I usually keep the spillage off my sweater.

Where would the world be without a little prairie hen puffery smile.gif

Really? That is pretty lame video. Your "ripper" friend is in almost flat terrain, moving at a snails pace, past baby christmas trees and bushes.... looks like a gaper... sorry but true.

Oh and I just watched the second one... . This is pure gaper-cam action.  day pass.

Never underestimate the value of proper foam management.

Looks like fun -- I'd like to try it, although at about 1/3 the speed of the skiers in the video.  Where is it (the 2nd video) on Mt. Mansfield  -- from what lift can I access it?   I'll bet it's a lot steeper than it looks.  I think helmet cams often "smooth out" the slope angle, because the skier is holding his/her head parallel to the slope.

Don't feed the troll.

That vid was okay, not impressed though.  Stowe trees are manicured anyway, come ski some real woods at Jaywink.gif  I've enjoyed the ridiculousness of this thread way more than the videos!
