My oldest son goes to school in Denver. I'm headed out to visit him MLK weekend, and our plan is to ski Sat/Sun/Mon. Most of our skiing has been done in the Sierra, since we live in Northern California. Thanks to the purchase of Northstar by Vail Resorts, our passes are now good for unlimited access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breck, A-Basin and Keystone as well. I'm looking for opinions on where to ski, and also lodging thoughts, for that weekend. Since it's to some degree a holiday (although probably not as busy as President's Day), want to take that into account.
He and I are both advance to low-level expert skiers. Like steeps, not so much into heavy duty bumps. We both tend to be "up early, hit first chair, and ski until we are worn out" types, so if there are ways to beat the crowds to certain great spots, we're willing to be up and out! He's got a 4WD SUV, so travel between resorts from a hotel home base isn't a big deal.
Back Bowls at Vail are on my "bucket list" so we'll have to get at least one day out there, weather-permitting!
