Intermediate Novice Needs Helpwith Boots..

ok... so in my quest to actually get past the novice level of skiing... i have reached to the internet for knowledge and found myself lost... so bear with me if im asking some dumb questions..

I've skiied off and on the last 4 years with one trip out west a year.. living in eastern NC makes getting to a decent mountain difficult.  I've always had a nagging problem renting boots.. Just cant get comfy.. know i realize why.. never knew there was so much knowledge/skill put into boots... past the rambling lets get to the points..

being a big buy ( 330lbs/6')  i have a problem with alot of the boots fitting the leg properly..i always end up getting boots bigger than i need in the foot to fit that are which makes for a painful day skiing.. any advice in a direction to a better boot would be appreciated!

Thanks!

the only advice we can sensibly give you on here is to get to a good boot fitter, read the wiki at the top of the forum to understand what a boot should be liek and how a shell check works, there is also a list of the fitters who post on the forum and if no one is close by we may be able to recomend somewhere that cna help

size and shape are the most important things, boots can be made bigger in areas where they feel too tight but they don't shrink in the wash

good luck getting sorted

CEM,

thanks for the reply actually did that shortly after posting and most DEF realized alot of my problems have been bad sized boots, or just all to wrong boots.. from what i can tell the closest boot fitter is about 7 hours from me ( in Banner Elk, NC )... unless you know of any others in NC, or eastern SC...
