FREE lift tickets for Active Duty Military--Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley!

After a 12 year hiatus from skiing the Tahoe area thanks to many Air Force moves, we are heading that way in February. I was thrilled to see that active duty military (including my husband and brother) are offered free lift tix to Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley. Thanks to both resorts, which we plan to visit and spend lots of money at on lessons, etc. on our trip!

Just thought I'd share this info. :D

Great information.  Do you have a link where you found it?

You can find them here and here.

last I checked Diamond Peak, Homewood, Sugarbowl, Northstar and Sierra all had some sort of mil deals as well.

Great job to these resorts for supporting our armed forces.

Were you aware of the Coast Guard Condos? and the Coast Guard Cabins? We stay on occasion, good deals.

Cheers!

I know Northstar offers free tix on Sundays only. I didn't see any offers from Diamond Peak, but we weren't planning on heading there anyhow. Mt. Rose offers $39 any day. But the freebies at Squaw and Alpine are screamin good deals! Two of our favorite haunts when we lived in Sacramento many moons ago.

And no, we didn't know about the Coast Guard condos. Do tell! We were getting ready to book a cheapie (but nicie) in Incline Village.

Google coast guard condos mwr and coast guard a frame cabins and both sites will come up.

There are 2 condos, 1 N Lake 3b2bath and 1SLT 3bd2bath.  Both are very nice and very resonable...100-125 per night

There are 4 A Frame cabins, 2 1bd 1bath and 2 2bd 1bath.  Right on the lake at the coast guard station in Tahoe city.  $45 night...

I've never done but you can look at Armed Forced Vacation club...1 week timeshares for $300ish...

We are in a ski club and only pay 10$ per person per night for a 6000sqft house.  Its like a private hostel...there are many different ones around Donner Summit.

Hope this helps,

Alan

I'd say try writing a letter or making some personal phone calls. (About both issues, really!) Good luck!

Great info! I will say that Squaw's website currently doesn't say that the freebies are just for Saturdays (at least I couldn't find that anywhere.) Did you find this recently (I noticed a lot of the info was for the 09-10 season.) Mt. Rose also offers discounts every day of $39 per ticket. Overall, so happy to see the resorts offering this. I wish they were doing it 12 years ago when we were surviving on 01-02 pay! ;)

I updated everything to the 10-11 season that I could find a month ago.  The info pricing had not changed.

On Squaw website:

Simply bring your active military duty ID to our Special Tickets office for your free lift ticket. This discount does not apply to Academy and Reservists. Normal blackout dates apply.
*Blackout Dates include all Saturdays of the 10/11 season and December 25, 2010 through January 2, 2011, January 15-16, 2011 and February 19-20, 2011.

Squaw blacks out Saturdays, but we won't be there on a Saturday, so no worries there for us :D Still a great deal.
