I'm new to skiing. I'm graduating college in a couple days and I'm going to have a lot of time to devote to skiing this season. I plan on starting lessons once the holidays are over and getting a season pass to a couple places in the Northeast. I'll be skiing 2+ times a week at least. I'm young and athletic so I think I'll learn somewhat quickly. I snowboarded a few times last season and picked it up really quick.
I'm 6'1" 190lbs. I need something that will work on groomed stuff in the Northeast while I'm learning. I'm willing to spend money on good quality stuff and I'll get new skis as I progress and as I start to ski new conditions. So I don't need some do it all ski that will last me a long time. Just something that will be good for a beginner that will practice a lot and get better quickly hopefully.
So far I've been looking at K2 A.M.P. Charger MX 14.0, Elan Waveflex 14 and 78 TI, Salomon XW Tornado TI powerline, Volkl Unlimited AC30, and Fischer Motive 80. I'm pretty confused by all the choices. Which of these would suit me best? Any others I should be looking at?
Also, what about boots? I have no clue what I should be looking for.
