Most Spectacular Mugul Skiing Crash

Some of you might remember this video from years back. Inspired by all the bump threads up lately I made a new edition of it last night. Setting a sad mood. Trying to capture the tragedy of an unfortunate soul beyond his controll. Still not entirely serious. Anyway, enjoy:

Finally, some good footage of someone going over the tops of the bumpsduck.gif

I've seen runs shorter than the distance that person slid.  I've seen people slide a fair distance on a moderately steep groomed run we have at Red Lodge but nothing that even begins to approach that.  The slider must have been partially unconscious.

the slow motion is pretty neat, but we need to see this at speed.

Did you see how it happened?  Did he come down a couloir and forget to slow down for those moguls, or did he just catch a tip or something while mogul skiing?

When you enter into the bowl you need to traverse to your right quite a distance. Its very tricky traversing as its steep and chopped up and the sideways ruts are accellerating you arround ridges and into huge bumps. And if you fall, well we all know by now what happens. Anyway, on that particular run I all of a sudden heard some soulful singing. I looked arround and saw a very very relaxed and confident guy overtaking me a few meters below while tearing his heart out. I was thinking that it takes some nerves to be singing the blues on a scary place like this. So the guy whent ahead and I thaught nothing of him. We then proceeded to make some video and #2 skied down into filming position a short distance down. #3 skied down and as I was preparing for my launch, you can see me at the top of the mountain, Im the one furthest up, I saw snow spraying and skis and stuff flying arround right between me and my brothers. And #2 did what he was supposed to do, keep the film rolling smile.gif. I cannot remember if I saw what actually happened but I have a vauge memory that I saw Rasta try to make his first few struggling turns before eating it. I think he was in over his head and deep down he knew it. Thats why he was singing. To calm himself down. That everythings was going to be allright...

tdk6 thanks for the memories, brings back some approx. 20 yr old ones, backside of Headwall (W side) at Squaw,  big moguls and icy,  nice little slide all the way down - ugh.
