Well, it is not that simple. You are not paying just for the brand, you are also paying for the materials (Gore makes slightly different fabrics for different companies, and Arcteryx does get the better ones), you are also paying for the rather innovative manufacturing techniques (a few years ago Arcteryx was head and shoulders above the rest, now things have leveled somewhat but the prices have also caught up), and for a better design. Go to the store and try an Arcteryx jacket side by side with another brand and see which one feels better and fits better. I understand that their MSRPs are repulsive to you, but it does not mean that they are a pure fraud. Maybe 50% fraud, but not 100%. In the end you do get what you pay for.
As for Alpha SV glove........
Hook, Line and Sinker...you bought all the marketing hype.
I own various pants and jackets by Marmot, Arc, NF, Patagucci, HH and Spyder. The difference between almost all of them is...wait for it...looks.
They all work and they all work well. They are all comfortable and where I have crossover between brands I usually choose based on the color or the layout of the pockets. Arc makes nice stuff but it doesn't feel better, fit better in my case a perfect medium or are they more long lasting than any of the others.
Owen may be troll and I don't mind paying for quality stuff but I sure wouldn't pay $200 more for Arc over any of the others.....JMO
