I am a collegiate racer, now with one year of experience under my belt, and am looking to optimize my wax choices. I ski in PA, MD, WV, and NY primarily on man-made snow with air temps between 20F and 35F.
My current system is:
base prep at beginning of season and mid season (about 5 weeks later)
+Dominator Renew Graphite
-drip on, iron every 10-15min until not enough wax to leave a solid trail
-repeat 10 times (totals about 50 passes with the iron)
-scrape, brash brush, fiberlene
daily training day (~x4/week):
-rub on edges about .75" wide strip, tip to tail
+Dominator Hydro Graphite
-rub on to fill in middle section, overlapping Bullet
-scrape, brass brush, nylon brush. fiberlene
-brush right before each race run with nylon rotobrush
I do not want to spend a ton of money as I know improving my technique will lead to much greater improvements than changing my wax, maybe $50.
I have been looking at some low-flouro and mid-flouro options like the Dominator Universal Flouro waxes, but do not know if that would be a worthwhile path to take or not.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
