N.South was a small (660 ft feet) hill in N. Idaho which closed for good in the mid/late '80's (I think)-it was a cool little place with great night skiing and close to Moscow/Pullman.
I grew up in Pullman and N.S was the closest place to ski (near St. Maries ID)
Any one here besides me ski there?
And does any one know if it is still open for hiking? N.S was one of those "upside down" areas with the lodge at the top, and the lift at the bottom.
I did some research and it seems like it was bought out for retreats and possibly no ski access.
I couldn't even find a picture of it!!
One of those lost "Idaho Gems"-very obscure, but a pretty vibrant place back in the day with over 20,000 college students nearby (WSU/U of I)
Sadly, the low base el and warming weather lead to poor/unreliable conditions (got worse and worse), and NS closed
I am going to be in Pullman for Christmas and was considering bring my AT setup for a day of skinning-the terrain was actually pretty good there. A big open "bowl" and some cut runs. Fairly steep in pitch as well.
any one been there as of late??
