I'm planning on getting into some beer league racing this season and the first "race" of the season is a "Carving Clinic" and "Carving Cup Race" at Northstar on Dec. 11 and 12. Has anyone attended these or a similar event?
If so, perhaps you can share a description of the event and town league racing in general or what to expect for someone with no racing experience.
Also, my daily ski is a 179 Line Prophet 90, but was thinking about breaking out the old 180 Atomic Beta Carv 9.18s if I feel like running gates (or cones, in this case). Not exactly race skis, but will they suffice? I've got loans to pay off and damned if I didn't already drop a grand on a ski lease :) :)
By way of background, I'm M 25 165lbs, been on skis for maybe10-15 years, but mostly in North Carolina. I'm a third year Kirkwood passholder here in Norcal and definitely have more fun in the pow, bumps, crud, cornices, cliffs, and chutes than I do on some groomer, but like W.M. says, "if you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do..."
