I would look for a more upright stance / lower ramp angle to take some of the preload off of your Quadriceps and keep the hamstring group activated to stabilize forward and back movements of your COM. a slightly softer boot will also require you to maintain balance which means all muscle groups are active and protecting the joint a bit better.
