So Crgildart, Old_Boot and myself headed to Sugar Mountain, NC today as they were reopening with the top to bottom open finally. Nice luck, mother nature smiled on us and we had real snow in North Carolina, unbelievable! I have the pictures to prove it. By noon we were skiing in 4 to 6 inches of fresh stuff on top the great coverage Sugar had managed to make. It was a pretty good day to finally get in the first turns of our year and give me a little practice before I head north for the winter.
Of course, there's the first wipe of the year. Seconds after I finally managed to ski past Old Boot, who was eratically skiing a snow plow, playing with the fresh snow like he'd never seen it before, trying hard to take me out with a side swipe each time I encroached on his space, I looked back to see that Crgildart hadn't realized just how eratic Old_Boot was and protective of his space and the two of them were snow covered, sitting in the middle of the run, having a yard sale. I managed photos of the sale but not the fall, shame.
At this point when Old Boot realizes his ski is actually broken, Cr does a temporary on hill fix (he pulled half the break off) so Old Boot could get his boot into his ski and ski it down the mountain. It was time to get different skis from the van, that weren't broken (IM 78's, North Carolina Powder Skis), and since we were doing that we'd have an early lunch, I dropped my own skis in for a sharpen and wax (the ski shop on the hill was awesome, good job, pleasant and did it right away). By the time we got back on the hill around noon all that snow coming down in the pictures was starting to accumulate nicely and made the next hour of the day sweet. Couple shots of Cr here and Old boot in the snow on the hill just after lunch.
And snow coming up from Cr's feet in North Carlina, rare sight.
Then Old Boot on the same run (there's only one run open lol)
And some North Carolina Powder coming up from Old Boot's boots too!
