Sorry I didn't see this post earlier, or I would have tried to answer. Are you going to Gålå for alpine skiing, cross-country, or a bit of both? Will you have a car?
Gålå is a small resort. There's alpine skiing either side of the valley, from a common base area but I guess you'll think its pretty tiny compared to a typical resort in the alps. It has slopes for all abilities though, and apparently a decent park. Gålå also places you in the middle of hundreds of km of cross country tracks in a fabulous landscape. And Gålå itself is going to be a nice, cosy place to stay.
If you have transport, the Gålå lift pass is good for Hafjell, Kvitfjell, Skeikampen and Sjusjøen so that would allow some nice alpine variation. Driving times approx. 40 min to Kvitfjell, 1hr to Hafjell or Skeikampen. At Kvitfjell you can test your legs in the Olympic/WC downhill course.
When will you be there? Week 8 (19/2 - 27/2) is winter holidays for many schools in Norway, in particular the Oslo district, which can make the resorts rather busy. The week before tends to be a Danish holiday week which can lead to amusing sights, particularly on the bunny slopes ;-)
Gålå is also the home of Peer Gynt Alpinklubb - which is the mother club of Norwegian WC skier Kjetil Jansrud.
