Wax on, wax off

Thread Starter

I have a query over the approach to layering wax.  What's the benefit of "wax, scrape, brush, repeat" versus the lazier approach of "wax, don't scrape, heat, don't scrape, heat again" (with occasionally a tad more wax to cover soak and drips)?

Of course, there's a scrape and brush sequence for both approaches before using.

I know, I know ... I'm lazy, but is there such a big difference?

None, except that no scrape method is faster. ;) It's still good to scrap  off after every 3 or 4 cycles, since wax "drags" some of dirt out of base, but I never scraped after each layer. Of course this goes for waxing new skis.
