Black Friday Ski Sale

Thread Starter

As I sit on my computer, trying to get a gme plan together for the biggest shopping day of the year, I couldn't help but begin to think.....WHAT IF SKI SHOPS TOOK PART IN THE BLACK FRIDAY FESTIVITIES.  I mean where I'm from, there would be a whole 5 people at the ski shop about a half hour from home, but that's not the point.  Ski gear is expensive enough, so why not help the middle class guys out a bit for half a day.  I'd love to see the reaction to something like this in some real ski towns.  I can only imagine the craziness that would ensue if say a pair of skis were half off, or a second pair of skis were offered with a particular pair.  Especially because most shops only carry one or two pair per size available.  I don't know if any of you will find this interesting at all, but if so, please chime in.

I've been to/seen sales where gear was (up to) 70% off...but it is usually spring/summer/labor day with last year's stuff...there are a few local shops that have pretty well known sales and they do attract interest when it is good gear at good prices.

There are dealer agreements which prevent this.

Great idea.

We could enjoy it this year, but next year. when the shop's not around anymore because they sold their inventory cheap at the beginning of the season and couldn't survive, it might not seem like such a great idea.

Even if the shop could make enough profit at the sale price, it would be unwise for a ski shop to upset all the other ski shops who would complain to the suppliers about unfair competition.  The shop would not last long.

Some shops do Black Friday kind of sale:

Like Artech..

Also depends who you talk to and where you could get a pretty good deal...

But I highly recommend Artech..

They have excellent prices and the best customer service.. I got so good deal from them just an hour ago.. Price was so low that I even can't  mention it here...

Using one of the sponsored ads on this site led me to a backcountry.com outlet website. They're doing some kind of 72 hour Black Friday deal. I just knocked out a bunch of my Christmas shopping for CHEAP! Check it out. They actually had some really nice stuff at bargain prices.
