Ski Resort Quality in North America - length of runs

Thread Starter

I am looking at doing my yearly ski resort trip. My things I look for are length of runs and good snow.

What resorts or ski hills have the longest of all runs.

I have skied Whistler and Revelstoke BC. What is better?

What does Revelstoke compare in length of runs to say that of Vail Colorado or Breckenridge?

Also in BC, what other ski resorts have good nice long runs similar to Whistler and Revelstoke, what would be another options that is really good?

Thanks

Whistler has long runs, but the lower section is not what I would call good skiing.

How long is long in your opinion?  Europe is the place for long runs, but great snow and long runs - Snowbird, Jackson Hole when the snow is good.

My experience, long equals dull in most cases, but I am from the east.

My first thought in US for long runs with good snow is Snowmass, CO.  And nearby are Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mtn.  Those three aren't too shabby in those categories.

Another suggestion for long uninterrupted fairly steep runs is Sun Valley, ID.

In answer to your question on other resorts in BC, you've skied the two with the longest verticals.  Since the 2008-9 season, Revelstoke has boasted the longest vertical in North America.  Next in line in for long runs would be Kicking Horse.  Check out what we have to say about it...

Snow quality is excellent - fine, dry champagne powder.  It has been dumping recently and the resort is scheduled for early opening on December 3rd.

If you are travelling as a group I have a very special deal for a luxury chalet close to the village gondola.  I also have a number of other deals to suit any budget or group size.
