So I went to Breck this weekend with a friend who has done almost nothing but race related skiing for the past two years and several years before I knew him. This year however he decided not to race and came skiing with me this past weekend with me. Needless to say when we where on the groomers he was a much better skier than me (no race experience). We then headed over to the T-bar and started skiing some off piste stuff and the roles completely changed. He was now the one keeping up with me. He was by no means a bad skier there but it was definitely a clear change.
I knew that racing and skiing off piste with variable snow conditions and such was different but I didn't realize that it was that big a difference. I don't really see one being better then the other but it was interesting experience that I thought I would comment on.
