I am in the process of entering the 21st century gear-wise and am looking to replace my old beat up Koflachs. I just tried on a few things in a local store. The one (surprisingly) that I liked so far was a Dalbello Axion 10 in my suggested size. Stiff enough, yet comfortable (as far as you can tell pre-heat treatment).
The store retail price is more than what I want to spend right now (just bought new skis for the entire family). So instead of keeoping my old ones for a little while longer, I checked prices online. And there seem to be better deals out there.
So here are my questions:
1. Is there a big difference between the current (2011) model and the 09/10 model?
2. How can you buy boots online that have this "heat activated" foam stuff? Somebody told me, that it will just poof up while skiing the first time. True? Not a good idea? How about using a hairdryer etc? Especially since I want to make sure to maintain some of the extra room in the toe box while tighten things at the heel?
3. Can anyone recommend a good online store with a good return policy? How do they handle returns on these active foam boots (obviously before doing anything with it or before skiing them...)?
