Downhill carving to Terrain Park Freestyle :S

Thread Starter

Hey guys...

I've been downhill skiing for most of my life

but i'd like to start entering the terrain park and trying some freestylin on my skis...

would it be too hard for me to start now?

how hard are these freestyle moves such as the 360, jumps, rails, boxes?

would carving skis be suitable for the freestyle terrain park - I've got skis that are 175 cm w/ 73 under foot

Any tips on freestyling would be greatly appeciated

Thanks :D

BTW i'm only 18

carving skis can work but they do suck at terrain park useage.

Get a cheap, light twin tip and go to town.

Your only 18 man, you got a long life ahead of you.  Nothing in any sport is too late unless you won't have the time in life to learn it, or you physically cannot do it.

You can start in on jumps right away with no real changes to your skiing or equipment.  Start small.   Half pipe works with normal gear too, if you have some skills.  I would get a dedicated park ski for tricks, rails and such though (if I were tempted to do that, which I'm not).

Rails are the hardest part.  I started skiing park at 18 and got pretty good.  I'm 29 now.  I'd get twin tips to expand the possibilities.
