I don't care if he is the best boot fitter in the world,  getting a private gondola when other people are waiting in line is total BS.

GONDOLA, not tram. Big difference...

No I meant tram! :)

Yuppers, I would be amongst those who would have no qualms about jumping in and joining you for the ride.

So now, what is your strategy when people actually get in?  Do you continue to smooch or do you now feel uncomfortable?

Done that  - not deliberate - but after door closes. Amazing to watch desperate scramble / clawing to get windows open - Hazmat brought in to neutralize venison chili / dark beer induced crisis !!!!

Thanks for the kind words.  I have very little pull in the Tram line.  But in the Gondi Line... I'm usually getting a semi-private car for skiers (AKA: Bears) who have looked me up and I'm going out to take a couple of runs with them.  If it is not too busy a semi-private car is a real treat.

Remember:  The best senario is having a ton of pull, but never using it!  That's street cred.

Oh she's cute, not hawt but well worth the semi-privateolo ride in the gondy. This is one of the few things that a gondola is better than a chair?

That's funny, sounds to me like he fits boots. Who cares. Don't really buy into "creds" or "tight connections," brah. Whether it's because you own a $20 million slopeside castle or because you're oh-so-core, thinking you're entitled is the epitome of what's lame in skiing.

So are you a whipped virgin dude? Because otherwise there's really no reason you need a private gondola for you and your "cute" gf. Let her stay home and make a nice snack/lunch/dinner for you--maybe stock the fridge with some beer, or your preferred apres drink, and then you take care of things when you get home.

"Joe" you are new, you don't know Stephen. Stephen is not only a true expert boot fitter he's also a great guy who has helped out many mags (TGR, since my guess is you don't post there or you would know him already) and bears.

Naw it's the OP that's faking the makeout session, she's always been ok with semi-private for me.

You're right I don't know him. Don't need to. I never said he wasn't a great guy, but the whole attitude of 'I get a private gondola because I'm so hooked up' is lame. Period. And he didn't do himself any favors in the way he described it. The fact that I don't know him just means I can call it impartially.

I think the OP's analogous to people on my Metro-North commuter train, who'll put their briefcase on the seat beside them, just to discourage anyone from sitting next to them.  It surprises me that many people will stand all the way into New York (45 minutes) rather than ask someone to move the briefcase. I've never had anyone refuse to move it, though they may sigh and roll their eyes as they do.  That's all right, I can take it.

I've been on many a Bridger gondi ride where I might as well have been riding alone.  Mostly the teenagers who would rather whip out the cell phone than be sociable.  And the phone conversations are always inane  -  "Dude, where you at?"

I'm usually oblivious to any attempt to keep me out of a gondi, as I'm usually struggling to get my twin tips into the little slots that are always too small.  I barely make it in before the doors close sometimes.  I guess if you want to fart or make out, I'll just have to live with it.

entitled, hooked up, or kharmically favored

I think, and I'm surprised to say this, that if you give a lot to the ski world, and getting paid for your time does not mean you are not giving (people can scantly give or give wholeheartedly at work), then you are a candidate for receiving a few perks along the way.

Shane or Ingrid never cut the line, but they could, and people would be happy to give them something, anything. you see? people involved in the ski world don't insist or push or intrude, they just take what comes to them naturally.

so then it goes down from there to people who are really cool in the shops and definitely make sure they do a great job. Things should (and do) come their way, what goes around, like.

And what kinds of "creds" are we talking about here?

Enough with the firestorm!

Hey... who doesn't enjoy just riding with your friends?

I am still waiting for the pics, it is at that time I will truely deciede on the gondola thing ( the hotter the girl friend the less of a jerk and the more insecure you might be) till then the verdict is out

Wow this got 52 more responses than my question asking about the differences between the nordica hot rod 95 and 105 when both set to a 95 flex.

But anyway my initial posting was more of a musing of what i attempted to do with my gf (she got pissed) when i thought we could benefit from some chill time.  Tried it once and think about doing it every now and then and laugh to myself.

Anyway i am usually a quietly exuberant skier so i don't want to be jaded for my monologue as i like it here.
