Have any of you guys come across potentially counterfeit stockli skis??????
The reason I ask????, I'm a ski instructor, I was working in New Zealand this summer, and bought a pair of Stormrider XXL's at a very reasonable price, compared to the New Zealand Importer in Wanaka.
The Stockli retailer in Wanaka, was amazed to see that I had acquired these ski's for such a good price(basically cheaper than he could import them) He mounted a binding plate, and I happily started to use my ski's.
I went back into the shop a few weeks later and he asked me to double check the serial number, as he had contacted stockli to check the serial number!!!!!!!!!, he confirmed that stockli had told him that they had not produced this ski????? and it was possibly a fake.
I contacted Ski Deopt who were quite surprised, and they set about checking this out as I was concerned about possible warranty issues, we had timely communications and I continued to use the skis which performed very well.
It's not my usual approach to voice my concerns on a forum, but would welcome any comments that you guys feel appropriate.
I own 3 other pairs of stockli's and have been more than satisfied with my purchases, it just concerns me that stockli don't recognise the ski as one they produced!!!!!
