The best part of the SkiFest in Santa Clara (Silicon Valley), outside of meeting TrekChick and seeing Phil, was learning about a “free” service that promises to track and remember what runs you have skied, tells you where your friends are currently skiing, compares each days adventure with different skiers (who skied the most, who skied the most double diamonds, etc.), and allows for seamless loading onto Facebook and Twitter.
The app, from a company called phresheez, works on the Android, Blackberry (with GPS), iPhone, Garmon, Magellan and others. The basic app is free. I’m not sure of the business model, but it seems (from talking with their rep) that they hope to lure skiers into using a more advanced app for a modest monthly fee next year.
See: www.phresheez.com for details.
Note well: I am not employed or compensated by this company in any way. I just thought others may want to know about this tracking app.
