Sorry for making a new topic on this, but I wanted some more opinions because I'm completely confused on ski length. I'm 18 years old, skiing for 12 years now and I ski fast and quite aggressively- probably a level 7 skier? I'm 5'9"-5'10" and about 130 lbs. I'm considering the atomic vf d2 75s in 166cm or 175cm, but not sure which to go for because a store clerk recommended I go with a ski at chin height, and ski calculators would figure me in with a 166 because of my weight, but most people on here, as well as ski charts seem to suggest to go long.

Short Answer: 166
I was talking to the Atomic product rep in Canada about getting two pairs this Season. I'm 24, 5'9, 140 Ibs and a (part time) Level 2 Ski Instructor - so what works for me should work for you.
This season I'll be buying a pair of Atomic D2 GS race skis @ 174cm, and a pair of D2 VF 75 @ 166cm. The main reason is that I love my old Metron B5s @ 162cm and the closest thing to the old Metron B5 is the D2 VF 75. When it comes to the length of a ski, turn radius is important. If you were looking for a GS ski with a long turn radius (17m+) then you'd want something over 170cm. However, with a short turn radius you want a shorter ski as you'll be turning more often. The VF 75 has a 13m turn radius and thus you'll want to stick to something in the 160s. So yeah, I'm getting them in 166 and so should you.
Have a great season!
