Ok I went for the demo.
Before listing the skis I tested I will post a few comments:
I had the volkl Superspeed in 182 for 4 years and prior I had Atomic beta race in 205 for 4 years too.
So I have been used too GS ski for high speed carving not for slalom.
I am recovering for a very serious bike accident that happen last august so I am not in great shape.
Which mean my ability to compare the first ski in the morning and the last one after 6 hours could have been impaired.
apprentely the demand for ski today in colorado is for wide ski. I am one of the last "zombie looking for those"
I tested all the skis in three different condition. Quick turn (simulated a post every 15 feet) which I called Slaolm, GS (You all know what GS means) and High speed meaning the highest spped I could get with a long carving more like downhill.
Volkl AC50 in 177 good ski for carving like GS. for slalom (quick turn) they are too wide in my opinion and are not that great. At high speed the tips start to vibrate and they drift.
conclusion this is not the type of ski I like.
Volkl Montera. I wanted to see how those new type of ski handle. They are not the best for slalom or for GS but they are not bad even at high spped the tips does not vibrate as much as I would expect with this type of ski. I am not interested by those ski but they perform much better than I will have expected
Blizzard Gforce pro 174. Those are the ski I like very very quick on slalom (I heard most of the guys doing competition used those ski? is this true) And for GS they are also really good. At very high speed they also perform very well for a 174cm ski. I would love to see those in 180 or more.
Blizzard M power 174 fs (I think they were 8.7. is this correct?) Not as quick as the Gforce pro may be a little bit better for GS. But again 174 is short need to see with a 180 or more
Blizzard G power 7 174cm. everyone at Blizzard tell me to try those. They great ski but I prefer the Gforce. They are great for slalom and GS but at high speed I was disapointed.
Salomon enduro I tried those in 184 so for high speed turn they were ok not as precise as the Atomic race but pretty good. As far as slalom they not great but again the 184 make them stable for high speed and handicape them for slalom. GS was good.
Blizzard Gforce supersonic in 174 .Apparentely there is a difference of construction between those and the Gforce pro . I was not able to tell the differnce for me they are very similar.
Magnum 8,2 179 good for slalom and GS but not as the supersonicand not better on high speed.
Atomic race gs This ski does not move at high speed incredible it absorbs all the imperfection of the slope without me feeling anything. This is the best ski I ver tested. As far as running a slalom they are very difficult to move and I feel that I will hit a few poles if I tried with those.
Atomic d2vf 75 not as good as a race on high speed and not as good as the gforce on quick turn or GS
Head super shape titan 177 not a bad ski (I was started to be tired) not as quick as the Gforce but I think they were more stable at high speed but after all those test Iamnot 100% sure.
K2 charger not very quick on slalom not bad for GS at very high speed like downhill they are not precise
Armada T1 versatile but not agressive enough they do not turn quick and for downhill they do not handle like a race. also the tips vibrate like hell at high speed.
AC30 not good on anything but not bad on anything. At high speed they vibrate, they are not as quick as a slalom on GS they are ok at high speed the tips vibrate and they do not seems build for this.
I did one last run with my ski and can definitely see that even the worse I tested today are 10 times better.
I am going wednesday for 5 days in the mountain and I definitely need ski
