Farther north has got to be better.  We'll settle for pushing the slush around one last time down here.  Kid is stoked.. just hope we don't get poured on, supposed to be windy, but not cold at all.

Well, looks like this season is a wrap for down this way.  I doubt Sugar or Beech will be truly skiable next weekend.  Any updates on Wintergreen?  I could be coerced in to skiing there next Saturday, maybe?

Here's a short video of my son from today at Sugar.  End the season with a little kid stoke.

Great video ... I love the smile on his face!!  What trail was that?  Looked like the snow was just about gone!

Sounds like fun but kid has a baseball game Friday night and I don't go past 4 hour (one way) drive day trips these days.  I've never been to Snowshoe and now would probably the the time it isn't insanely busy (which is why I've avoided it in the past).  Let us know how ti goes.

Hello!  I'm a 50-something retired mom in the Raleigh area.  Been lurking for a while.  I ski with my 10yo daughter in locally in VA and NC.  Massanutten is what I consider our "home mountain."  We tend to ski at Beech in NC.  I like Wintergreen mid-week but don't get there too often.  Looking forward to our annual late season trip with her to meet up with friends at Alta Lodge in a few weeks.  Hope to be able to meet some of you next season!

Welcome

we are always happy to have people to ski with, I think the VA NC SC folks are the friendliest LOL.

I seem to be a Beech kindda guy this year. But we all seem to get from spot to spot.

Post here, read here and Im sure you will meet up with some or all of us.

Thanks!  As someone who grew up in New York City, I appreciate the friendliness of southerners.  Although seems like where I live it's hard to find a true southerner.  I don't qualify even though I've been in NC since the early 1970s.

Haha!!   He does OK for a recent CANADA transplant eh?  Hope to ski with you next season.  Thanksgiving Saturday is probably the next planned day.

Aah, that explains a few things.  Southern Canada . . . are there any people in northern Canada?  wink.gif  Does it count that my father was from southern China?

Nothing in NC, VA, WV is open any more except Appalachian.  This year Sugar closed before there was mud at the bottom.  Snowshoe had more than enough snow left but kept to the closing date of March 27.

As another transplant from the Northeast to NC, welcome!  I hope to add many others (in addition to Old Boot who I skied with once this year ... thanks!) to the list of folks I get to ski with next year!  I am entirely disappointed in my lack of ski days and have no one to blame but myself!  Having others to ski with will help get my butt in gear to drive up to Sugar, Beech or wherever much more often next year. (I'm currently living north of Charlotte in Cabarrus county.)
