Would like to go to Cataloochee sometime in mid-December if anyone is up.

NO NO NO LS is up in Canada ( Teaching at Castle mountain ,hope she doesnt hate it!! .) I am sure I will make a couple trips up to see her but I will be stuck here in the land of pulled pork.

I will therefore get to ski more with the folks in the south!! woohoo. I am doing the spring gathering also but would like to get a bit more skiing in this year ( I think my knee will be much better and needing exersize )

Cant wait!!

If the resorts open before the 8th of December when I fly out to my new job I want to ski!  I am so scared of being out of shape and showing up ready to go on the 9th of December, LOL.

I ran today, I never run.  I'm going to be miserable all winter missing Old Boot but I'll be sure and post lots of pictures of the skiing and snow and runs from my mountain to keep you all stoked, in my sadness. *grins*

Thinking about that.  You really win if the snow doesn't fly and you can use it any other 4 weekdays, if you can ski week days.  I really want to get up there before I fly out to Alberta and get the skis working under me, so if it opens you can count me in before the 9th.

Dang it, I have TGD plans on Saturday and fly out on Monday for the job interview in Denver or I'd be up for making new friends.  I'll keep an eye on later dates though.

Is anywhere in Virginia open this weekend?  I can't find an open ski hill with snow within 6 hours.

OOOOOH yay.  I just looked up the Snow Shoe accommodation for 5 day ski deal and get a free pass thing.  I phoned and priced it.  Hoping they look like they'll open for Thanksgiving and i might book 5 days there next weekend. 

LS/OB  I can relate to this.

 A former boss in my office who lives in Maryland has a wife who takes off for the winter

to be a ski instructor at Copper Mt CO.  He goes out to visit her a few times a winter.

Last time I saw him was in the Safeway in Frisco,Co  -2 years ago.

Going to teach my youngest son this year. Usally go to WV but thinking of giving Appalachian Mtn a try this year. Have not skied NC in over 10 years. I think that the snowmaking has come a long way from the days of Ice skiing!

Well Old Boot and I are heading up to the mountains this weekend for sure.  He says Saturday (we will brave the weekend crowd to get some turns in lol).  I'm thinking Saturday and Sunday, but I'll sping that on him when he reads this or we get there.  I  need some turns in before I fly out to Alberta next week.  I can't believe nothing looked promising for opening last weekend, though I see Sugar finally managed to get the the full run down the front open.  Good for them.

Since things didn't looked promising and we found ourselves in Orland for Old Boot's work on Wednesday we just headed South instead of north and went to key West.  I'm going to be soo cold this year with no cold weather or skiing to get used to it before i"m thrust into the minus 20 temps.  Ahh well, I'll dress warm and turn lots! 

Anyone else heading up this weekend let us know, we'll arrange to meet up.

Great, we'll be there for 9am, Sugar looks like the plan for us too.  Old Boot will have his bright yellow jacket on and still has ribbons on his poles.  He said he didn't have your number with him though, we're in Rutherforton today, he's working and we're going to head up to the hills tonight.

Oh shame, well if we get there good and early we'll hopefully have less crowds and get lots of ski time in for the morning.  Then if it's raining we'll feel like we got in good skiing anyhow!  They do have it open to the top now, which is nice and Easy Street at the bottom open so that will hopefully help with the congestion.

hmm Beech looks pretty good on their web cam and they plan on opening tomorrow with $30.00 lift tickets, But  Robin really doesn't trust their weekend line ups and lifts to keep running.... Decissions, Decissions.  I also hated that the last couple years opening day was only the bottom half, with one lift and HUGE crowds.  They aren't saying exactly what runs/lifts they plan to open with.  The base cam looks pretty good this morning though.  Base Cam. 

Sugar it is then, we'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning. 

As conditions permit, I would love to have the chance to ski with some folks here in the Southeast.  I prefer weekdays to weekends (can't stand the crowds), and live just north of Charlotte.

I've never been to Sugar (or beech) or any NC ski area.  My parents live in Knoxville, so I have a place to stage out of.  I'm hoping to take a hookey day from work and meet up with some of you in January.  Either the week of Jan 10 or Jan 17.  Tues, Wed, or Thurs would work best. 

Purfect as u can see we 3 are off to Sugar tommorow ( I am in Banner Elk tonight )I usually have a bright yellow jacket and a white knit hat with a red blotch in the forhead area (Maple leaf???) and an Epic ski sticker on my skis!!

Maybe can get away for a day the week of Jan 10-17 but am very very last minute usually due to my work (would explain but would have to kill you)LOL

CR skis on off days also.

As your plans get firmed up, let me know ... I am usually pretty flexible and would love to get out.

I might be heading to Cataloochee on Sunday for their Cans promotion- bring 10 cans of food, get a free lift ticket. Let me know if anyone's interested. My wife is out of town on business so it would be just me for my first day of the season!

OH what a great idea.  I've never skiied there.  I can't seem to talk Old boot into Sunday skiing, so we'll see.  I did just get a gruding we'll see as I read the post.
