Whats the word in the Wasatch? - Page 4

As is typical in the early season, Alta has the most acreage open and deepest base, probably best coverage at this present time. I prefer to not drive if I don't have to so if it were me, I would hit PCMR on Friday and if its not enough open for a second day then go to Alta saturday. $.02.

good advice.  You around?

I will be arround logan at Beaver Mt. this weekend, not arround SLC. We have a 3 week old baby girl so I have to stick arround home as much as possible to do chores and take care of mom and baby. Hoefully all goes well and madeline can get back out there in a month or so.

HEY congrats!  No worries. Cheers

Finn,

Tromano's advice it good.  This latest storm at Snowbasin was more of a wind event than snow, whereas LCC got quite a bit low density snow, Snowbird is reporting 21"!  Basin should have more terrain open this week, maybe even John Paul by the weekend.  It looked like quite a bit of snow got blown off Strawberry, so it may be a bit longer.

All in all, a fun clear, cold day.

DV could be good.  I think it will be their opening day.  Could be lots of untracked to be had.

Cheer up,

About 6-8" yesterday with free re-fills most of the morning, left some unfinished business for first thing this morning.

Haven't been to this thread in awhile, cause it has been dumping in the Wasatch.  It is supposed to let up by tomorrow afternoon, but the biggest snow maker at least for the northern mountains seems to be here right now!

Yesterday:

& there was way more today, & will be more tomorrow!

Very Nice! The word is Monday was the best day of the season so far at Alta, Canyon was closed and it was like a powder country club. Today was bluebird, bottomless, uncrowded and untracked on a good bit of the resort.

Got to ski with epicskier Habacomike yesterday in a furious, wet & windy blizzard that left a conservative 2' of snow.  Today was maybe one of the busiest days at Snowbasin I have seen.  Lots of great powder all day though.

This is what it looked like yesterday, as Mike streaks by me:

& this was today, Just as Strawberry opened mid-morning:

Patrol did a great job of getting just about the whole mountain open & safe today.

That looks luscious.  Skied Copper today.  We didn't get the snow that the Wasatch did.  It was extraordinarily dry -- so dry it was catchy, and the purported 3 inches skied like a skiff, except when it was catching your ski.  It was like skiing sandpaper.

Send some of that snow our way.

The Sierras pay it forward to us & the Wasatch pay it forward to the divide... if there's anything left.

Glad you made it back home okay.  Experienced the same thing with a rental car in the alps years ago, bald tires & no chains mad.gif.

Bone chilling cold today, but the snow is still great.
