What Could I reasonably expect to be open at Vail Dec 9,10 & 11

Might have  a reason the travel to Denver early in December and if things work out with this customer I would bring my ski stuff and tag on some days at Vail. Validates that the Epic Pass entices people to try and get there more frequently. A couple of years ago I skied Vail in early December and thought it was pretty decent actually. I wouldn't expect the back to be open yet and I know the amount and quality of the snow is going to depend on the weather, but with all that in mind are the prospects this early in the season for most of the front to be open and skiable decent?

I'm a flat lander from Pa. so skiing the Mid Mountain Express all day and those runs would be worth it to me. Doesn't Riva have snow making on it

Because RT has connections in the Vail Valley.

There is usually considerable snow there in that time frame and PM's have indicated there has been above average snowfall in Summit / Eagle Counties thus far this season.  However, In recent years due to budget reasons Vail has been opening less lifts early season and they schedule openings on the back bowls so you may not see that area open, but they may also want to advertise the new hi-speed lift they put in over the summer.  Hard to tell.

I'd say watch the reports and bring your gear if you see snow totals for the season listed at 5' feet or better which is about minimum.  I've seen seasons at that time when there is 7-8' for the season on those dates so while it's a crapshoot, you never know.

Early season can be hit or miss...you just never know.  We will be out at Vail during your dates.  Maybe we can make some turns.  Having the Epic Pass is a great motivator, regardless of the conditions.  Especially, since it is very unlikely any local areas in VA/DC/MD will be open.

It's been years since I've skied Vail, but I use to ski there a lot.  Early season and in low snow years, Chair 11/Northwood's area usually has the best snow.

Since Vail cloud seeds, they usually have the best natural along the front range early season.

I think you have answered your own question-there should be some good skiing. BBowls open?-Most likely not-but Vail does a great job getting terrain open and there have been a couple of pretty good storms already-with a good one coming in tonight (Winter Storm Warning)

One thing about Vail is that they will open with more than just a run or two-usually at least a dozen-I think it's pretty fun to poke around the front side of Vail early season if you have a pass. Usually after the Thanksgiving Holiday they will get some good snow just after everyone leaves

Bring your Epic Pass and enjoy
