Overwelming ski choices for low budget! Help

Hey all.  Anyone have suggestions on what ski and where online to shop?  I am 5'11, 180lbs.  Fit 45 yr old.  Low intermediate but  improving.  Mostly East coast skiing, with a Spring trip to UT planned.  Always rented in the past.  I have purchased Rossi Boots Exalt X 8 (29.0) and am shopping for best deal on skis.  Not concerned about fashion, just the best ski for me AND my budget.  Any help would be appreciated.  Ski length, style, where to purchase?  All welcome!  Thanks

First thing.........

I'd suggest you backtrack a bit and get your boot purchase evaluated by a professional. Unless your feet are dramatically out of proportion to your "Joe-average" stature, I strongly suspect that they are too large a size and perhaps too large in volume as well. Keep in mind that this is just a suspicion but it's highly possibe (even probable).

If you get an up-check from a pro on your boot purchase, then c'mon back and ask again about skis. I have something in mind for you.

^^^What's your shoe size? A mondo 29 is for one large foot! I'm taller than you (correlation between height and foot length), wear an 11 street shoe, never go above a 27.5, sometimes down to 26.5.

I am 6'5" and I wear a Mens size 13 street shoe and a 29.0 ski boot.  SierraJim is definately on to something here....

Well guys, I was thinking maybe I had the size info wrong but no, they are 29.0.  I wear a size 10.5 street shoe and have a wider foot.  When I picked up the boots I also tried a 28.5 and they seemed real tight on my right foot (larger of the two) with my toes feeling uncomfortably scrunched and jammed.

At this point I think I'll stick with the boot.  Any thoughts on skis?

Thanks in advance for the input!

It sounds like they put you in a boot that was too long in order to be wide enough for the ball of your foot.  They probably should have put you in a boot of the correct length and punched out the area that was too tight.  I bet your heel and the rest of your foot will be swimming in the boot once the liner packs in a bit.   Do a shell fit.
