As a few people know, Whitewater is installing a new used lift that they got from Vail that will provide lift service to terrain previously requiring hitchiking or other motorized shuttle. It will bring Whitewater's lift-served vertical drop to just over 2,000 feet and gives 'em THREE (Yes! Count 'em - three!) chair lifts. The lift is a fixed grip triple, which is a Biggus Dealus at Whitewater, because the two existing chairs are center pole doubles that are well on their way to becoming historical artifacts.
Whitewater is hoping to have the new chair running this season. They still have lots of work to do...
Somehow, I don't think that will be a problem in the near future:
The towers are still laying in the parking lot, but at least they're on site. They still have to pour concrete footings. Since frost is now a nightly occurance at Whitewater's altitude, the concrete will require additives or heat to cure properly.
Anyway, we wish them the best in this endeavor, since we're hoping to ride the "new" lift this year. They're still saying they'll open it in December.
