Want to know how "skier smart" you are?

Then try this "speed quiz" on Monday 9 PM Eastern USA time at this site ! On this section,,that is gear discussion!

Hint,,,,it will be all about ski gear, ski tools, ski articles every great tuner knows at a glance!

One picture,,,15 minutes to "get it all" !

My prediction,,,,,only 3 skiers will get it!!!!

One will win the Swix digital electronic wax iron!

One more day for that "Smart skier" quiz to be posted on this site!

What is a smart skier?

To me it is a person who wants to get the most from his equipment, the very best performance! Thus "tunes" all his skiing material to make skiing easy, enjoyable and effective !

This involves several "abilities", competencies and senses.

The first is observation. Looking how materials is performing under varied conditions.

The second is "knowledge" ! That is learning about;  how to,,,,when to,,,,,with what. In short knowing the tools to use and when to use them.

The third is desire..or heart.

The last is "maturity"

All four will be "sampled" in this quiz.

Desire because in 15 minutes you will not have time to ask your "expert" friends on net, Goggle picture, send picture to that tuning guru in Vail! You will "want" have to find solution! Others ( with little desire) will give up after 4 minutes

Knowledge will be sampled since you can not in 15 minutes get  "ready made" answers from net on this quiz. It will favor the person who over the years has acquired knowledge about skiing, skiing performance and tuning. Again "instant knowledge" from net will not be sampled here.

This quiz, will test your sense of observation. Yes some parts of the picture is "ever so darker", or ever so "suggestive",,that is planned. That is how we separate the best from the very best! A tiny piece, or tiny section of a tool will be enough for the very best tuner to identify it!

Yes you will be "teased" visually. All parts of the picture are part of the quiz,,,,,I stress the , "all parts" ! Look carefully at all parts of the picture. Surprises await you!

I hope  you will be teased intellectually also.

Finally, your maturity level will also be "sampled"! This is the one which will cause "issues", comments, "discussions" I am sure. You decide what this "maturity" element is within this quiz! It is there!

So rest today!

See you all  on Monday October 18th.  9 PM (eastern US time)

Monday! October 18th,

Just a short note to prepare you for the 9 PM picture post!

First the rules

You have 15 minutes to submit all the items you see. Thus ( 9:15 is cut off time)

The group that got 4 out of 5 correct answers on first quiz are "candidates" for the Swix digital wax iron! Others can have just fun trying to do this quiz!

It is a speed contest so first person who gets most well identified items wins.

Remember however,,,,you must be as precise as possible about items. Thus general terms such as, "screwdriver" is not as valid as a Posidrive 3 screwdriver! (If you have no idea what a posidrive is,,,, quick,,,,,go to,,,,,,!!!)

Try to locate items for me in your response,,thus perhaps start at top left hand corner of picture and go right along top row and so on! This will help me "score" your responses. Thus if you say, "a helicoil" but do not say where,,,,,,perhaps, "a helicoil on left that red fish"  would help!

There are +70 items in picture.

I doubt anyone will get all 70,,,well perhaps stekan! ( Imagine he is getting up at 3 AM to do this quiz!!!!!)

The basic score will be 50+! Thus please submit message only if you find 50 items ( or more) and can identify them!

Have an open mind,,,,in short think outside the box to get all 70 items!

All items relate to skiing.

Have a next evening!

Respectfully,

Vist

Hmmm..... Am I going to be able to even type 50 descriptions in 15mins???

Is 10 correct at the 13 minute mark better than 70 correct at the 16 minute mark?  In other words is being in before the witching hour more important than having a lot more identified say TWO minutes after the deadline?  In otherwords, should we send it early as we can't guarantee our time stamp and yours will agree 100% across the internet.

crgildart,

Ha,,you are showing some maturity already! Lookind at all the odds. the angles in a situation!

My answer; 50 is minimum score,,,,then comes quality of scores, thus if two person have in the same range  ie 62-65 items identified,,the one who is more precise will win!

Please everyone,,the description is more a "identification" of item thus as long as I understand that you know what item is,,go on to next item!

I did a short "field test" with my wife yesterday. She got 65 easily in 15 minutes!!!!!!

Yes I believe in you , I believe that most are going to get at least 50,,,,It is those items in the "grey zones" which will drive you mad!!!!

Please,,just enjoy quiz!!!!!

And when you are going up the lifts this winter and you are talking about this quiz,,,,,look at the skier beside you grinning quietly,,,,, !!!!

Then look down at what he is using !!!!!

Chance to name properly 50 tools in English is not high for me.

Can I submit the answer in one of languages used where I live?

Stekan,

Careful now,,I did say, "think outside the box"!!

Did I ever mention just tools!

The smart person will see rather than look!

The smart person will think "global"

The smart person will think like a happy happy skier!

The smart person will look first at the forest,,,,then at the twigs, bushes and trunks! That way you will not be lost in the forest!

Tools,,,,,hummmmmmmm!!!!

Think this way Stekan,,you will learn some great English vocabulary,,,,,,

Sleep well,

Yes, but she types faster than I; it took almost 15 minutes for me to type and proofread this message. There is no way I can answer 50 in 15.  Don't worry about me though; I have an iron (with none of those new-fangled steam holes), and I wouldn't enjoy the stress of trying to get all answers in.  The first game was fun; this is too intense for me..

Sibby lives too far away from Vistman to be his wife.

And I doubt if I'll do well on this, just had major dental work done today and not feeling that great.
