For those who are really want the Swix digital iron remember,,time is important since if there is a tie,,,,, the person who has sent in the correct answer earlier will win iron!

Have fun!

Thursday, the iron is yours!

PS,,,sibhusky,,,,,do not help Stekan get this,,since he is the leader so far!!!!!

We have a "correct answer" !!!!

Ramzee,

I got it first!

4 out of 5 ain't bad.  I won't win that  waxing iron with a handle that looks similar to the back of a formula racing car, but it is sure fun to play.

I'm apparently better at helping others than helping myself, but I am shutting up...

I have never seen so many,,"imaginative skiers"!

Your answers are,,,,,,amazing, out of this world,,,,Here is the hint I have given to many of you!

What do skiers, who go into the woods fear the most?

If still in doubt,,,contact Delibrate1 and ask him about his injury!

The light should come on!!!!

I got it, first try.  Too bad I'm out of the game....

sibhusky,

What no waving!!!

What no wild icons!!!!

What,,just a modest,,,,,I got it on first try!!!!

Yes men she got it!!!!!

Well, if I were in the game, there'd be a reason for icons.  Since I'm out, I'm stuck with wishing you'd asked these questions in a different order.  (your icon...  smile.gif

We have another,,"winner"!  This person is "persistant"! This person must be a great skier,,,never giving up!

Constantly trying new approaches ! New answers !!!!

The man : crgildart !  Never gave up,,,,Propopsed some strange, strange answers,,,,,,but then struck gold!!!!

Bravo to crgildart!

Of course all of your "others" will say to him soon, "we knew that,,,,that was too easy,,,,,etc,,,,,"

One more day!

Till the end.

Vist

Well not really the end.

One major surprise  ( with lots of stress) ,,but you will all love it and learn from it!

Speed will be important on this last one so,,,sleep well!

Vistman, that is an easy one, especially with the hint. It is a piece of my blown out rotator cuff.

You all "amaze " me! When I think I have challenged you skiing knowledge too much,,,,,,one of you demonstrates how much "smarter" you are!

A case in point. lagdawg,,not only idenfied item 5! He named the original inventor of this item,, its use and its positive aspects!

I am now giving lagdawg,,,,a respectfull bow! Brilliant!

Delibrate1 mentions the hint is too easy,,,,,yet I still "feel" your sensory neurons firing!!!!!

So I am giving you all an equation to complete!

Fish is to hook,,,,,as skier is to branch

Fish is to line,,,,as  skier is to,,,,,,,

Delibrate1 is to shoulder out

As,,,,,,,,,,, is to shoulder in!

And the final easy easy hint is,,,,,when you were children and your parents told you a story to remind how to put this item on;

think of the rabbit going into his hole

Then he comes out and spreads his ears

Wraps them around the trunk!

Holds it tight!!!!!!

3 people got it!!!!

I need more for the next question!!!!

What do skiers fear the most?  Depends on the skier:  Smacking into a tree at 80 mph (me), dying in a tree well (anyone who ever got stuck in one), getting lost (the directionally challenged).

Deliberate1 booted out on ice an hurt his shoulder.  How does that clue help anyone?

By the way how big is that roll of tape?

We have another winner!

Stranger as just joined the "select group" of smart,,,no very smart  AND observant skiers!

Now to clarify some of Ghost's questions!

Smacking into a tree at 80 mph,,,,is nothing to other forms of slow slow pain,,,,,Delibrate1 knows something about it!

As far as Delibrate1's accident,,,,,it is not the cause of the accident that is the "focus" ,,central issue! The "area" of focus is,,,,the hint!

( as far as the cause of this accident,,,,there are several versions. Some eye witnesses confirm that he was skiing slowly down a beginner trail when a low lying branch caught him ,,very much like a fish in a very tender area!)

The tape is a regular roll duct tape I use to repair my broken poles, my straps on my packsack, my metal clips on my ski boots!

I hope these answers clarify, and help you Ghost!

I can only open your eyes Ghost,,,,I really can not help you see!

That is up to you!

Thread Starter

Yes  yes  yes Ghost  got it!

The answer is; item 5 is the top plastic clip on a ski pole from a Leki ski pole!

Goode ski poles began to use such device ( and all ski poles should) since ther are many accidents due to nylon straps!

The view of item 5 is upside down,,however if you look carefully, you will see groove where metal piece inserts. You can see the slop where the top screw enters.

Plus you can see the "lip" of clip!

So,,,,we have no winner.

I do want to give away this digital waxing iron so I have a proposal for you (that is the skiers who have taken part in this quiz). You know who you are! The ones who tried and tried to get correct answers. The ones who took the time to think. The ones who asked others!

Here is my surprise "quiz" which will result in a winner.

It is a one shot deal.

One picture given at a given set time so it is fair to all. Since most "participants" are in the USA, I will pick a time in the mid-west region!

I will post this one picture which will sample your; tuning experience, your sense of observation and stress management since it is a timed quiz!

You will have 15 minutes only to answer!

First person to "identify" most items will get iron!

A small comment here. Identify does not mean, "a ski" ! You are much better than the average skier on slopes so the "bar" is set higher!

Identify means; a Hexcel Swallow tailed 205 cm ski!

If two persons get same score,,I will accept the one who is more precise!

If you have no idea what I mean see stekan and get advice from him! He is amazing!

The date of this final quiz :  Monday  (yes this coming Monday)  Time  :  3 PM  EST (eastern standard time)  duration : 15 minutes  Open : only to participants who sent 3+ correct answers!

One picture,,,,,but much much observational skills required,,so bring along some coffee!

So set your agenda for a very important "meeting" with Vist !  Bring some "eye drops",,,screen wipes and we will see who can "observe" ski items!!!!! ( notices the s in items)

If stekan wins this round,,,since he has electrical  compatibility problems with USA  Swix digital wax iron,,he will get a special polar  fleece jacket from a ski company in which there are only 5 such  jackets in the world (a special VIP jacket)! So all of you around the world will be to "identify" him as he skis in Vail, Lake Tahoe, La Plagne, or just the Bugaboos!

So be ready! Have your eyes checked! Get large screen monitors.

Oh,,,,yes above all,,,enjoy the picture and the quiz!

Sorry, I have to work on Monday.  Doesn't matter though; I already have an iron.

Oh, and just cut those straps off; they are not needed for downhill skiing.

Leki has a great idea.  Here's how their safety clip works: they overcharge for new straps so that people will ski without the straps once they lose them..

Thanks for a fun contest.

Work????  Work !!!!!!

What is that work????

Do not know this word! I was told at a very young age that if you did what you loved,,,,,then it was "pleasure" !!!

Constant passion!!!!

That is why I am into,,,,,,,, skiing!

Snow Flake, maybe you should change the contest to an evening time for all involved.  Problem is people over the pond would be pretty late for them.

Well, I have two locations and only one "waxing iron."  My other iron is the typical clothes iron that works OK, but it doesn't regulate the temperature as well and has those stupid steam holes.  It works just fine, but I'm game for another better quality iron!  As for ski straps, they are designed so emergency rooms can stay busy, right?  Leki just wants a piece of that action...

SkiMangoJazz has suggested a later time on Monday! I am open to this. How many persons are "over the pond" and qualify for this quiz?

If I made the time 7 PM Monday evening (eastern time zone),,,would that effect any candidates? If I do not "hear" from anyone in the next two days,,,,,I will assume all can participate at this time period!

Thank you for your suggestion SkiMango Jazz!

Hmmm.....  7pm Eastern = 5pm Mountain = 4pm Pacific = Commuting time for the main crowd you were trying to cover!

Anytime is fine for me.  Let's just get it settled.

Here is the "executive" decision in regards to the  final quiz item on Monday!

I will post picture on this site at  9 PM (eastern USA time).

There will be a 15 minute period "observation time! At 9:16 (eastern time)  all comments, answers, observations will not be considered for the prize,,,I will make comments however! In short only observations made and reported during this 15 minute period will be accepted.

If  stekan wants to participate,,,I will set a "unique" schedule for him! I trust him and I am sure he will not pass this picture along for some early birds!

One small problem ,,,,on my side!  I will be going to a country where I will not be able to be on net due to "security" issues! You will have to "suffer" some days wondering,,,,,

You may submit a group report,,since I am sure you will find,,,,"amazing items" ! Items you have never seen! Items you may dream of "owning"  as ski tuners!

The specific rules and procedures for this picture will be posted on Monday!

I know,,you will all enjoy this last item!

Are we supposed to do it in a PM or in public so we know who actually beat whom?

Time is set!

Monday 9 PM (eastern coast time)

Procedures: Send observations via message to me! (since you do not want to others to be helped during the 15 minute period) !

After the 15 minutes if you want to discuss what you saw,,why not!

I will respond to all messages! (a little late)
