Hi! Here's the short of it. I am a 45 yr old male, ex pro athlete. I'm 5'6" weigh 148lbs. I grew up skiing in the East (Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Killington-Yuk! and others, with an occasional trip out west.) I am a level 8 skier with a light touch and pretty bad kness, and I am trying to put off maniscus and probably ACL repair until spring.

Last season my knees were so bad I sold all of my skis - K2 Crossfire in 160 frontside with piston bingings, which I loved, and a pair of Extremes which I felt too old to ski! LOL! Dynastar 8000's, and a pair of Head IM 82, and a piar of IM 70's....Just to note, I absolutely hate Head skis. Don;t ask me why, but I owned three new pair, and I just can't ski them so please don't suggest any! LOL! I want to love them like everyone else, but for some reason ithey are horrible for me, and I have demoed most of them!!!!??!!! I am a big K2 guy and always have been!

All that being said My knees feel a little better, and I'm going skiing out East and planning a trip to Tahoe, so I bought some cheap skis to play around with until spring. I got a great deal on a pair of interceptors in 170 for $299 (shipped free from o2 Gear shop!) with the Marker M2 11 bindings for some easy pow and soft snow skiing (I loved the Explorer but its a little too much for my knees right now).

Here's my question: I need a pair of easy maneuvering front side runners that are stable but not too demanding that I can ski and give away in the Spring when I get new ones. I hate buying used if I don't know who they're from, but I found a great deal on a pair of brand new 2006 Volkyl 4 star with Attiva 11.0 bindings in 160cm for $298! I loved the five star but that was when I had knees! LOL! I have never skiid the 4 star and although I say I'll ski easy, I don't want to totally overower them on days it feels like I still have some!  Is anyone familiar with them? I can buy a used pair of Volkl S5's for $300, but I'd rather buy new. Can anyone make any suggestions for a ski that may work...or, have, or know of a pair for sale that may work for me?
