Kastle MX108 vs 09/10 Gotama and/or 08/09 Gotama

Hi,

I am looking at the MX 108 and have searched but not found any comparisions.  Can anyone that has skied or tested these provide some input?

Thanks,

I've skied (and will very well own) the MX108 and can compare against the Gotama. Where the MX is an early rise, the Gotama is a ELP Rocker. I found the Kastle performed better on mixed conditions will little loss in performance in soft/deep snow. The Volkl has a tighter TR but you really have to work a higher edge angle because of the full rocker. The 09/10-10/11 in the Volkl is the same with a slight graphics variation.

So Phil...

When the our collective ship comes in the quiver would be....

MX78 with a KTi plate for East Coast every day hard snow.

MX88 for every day soft snow and for traveling.

MX108 for deep days.

RX SL just for those really hard days when you just need to run some gates.

FX94 for a little BC touring.

LX82 to have around the house for when guests come to visit.

That about cover it? Now, who's buying?

Thanks Phil,

What did you think of the 108 in the trees and bumps?   Is the 187 (5'11 175)  too long for colorado trees like steamboat or vail?  So the MX 108 still has camber under foot?

I think the OP was also asking for a comparison to the 09 Goats (pre-rocker). Own a pair, but have not skied either of the other skis. Suspect that 09 Goats handle a bit more like the MX108's, in that they were surprisingly easy carving firm snow, and might even beat the 108's (or many other stiffer rockers/ELP's) in trees and bumps (lighter, softer tips and tails, more slithery). But also suspect they would come up way behind the 108's in terms of stability at speed or in mixed conditions such as crud/mush with ice underneath. The reason I abandoned Goats beyond these is because I didn't think the world needed another stiffish rockered fat. The 108's might be just the compromise between that and a traditional design...

Thanks.  That is exactly what I was getting at but needed to make more clear.  I got rid of my 09 183 goats and wish I would not have.  I really liked them in trees, soft bumps, reasonable poweder and were suprisingly good on the hard pack.  I am looking for something between the new and old and the MX108 looks like a possible candidate.
