New Skis?!?

Hey all,

I'm looking for some suggestions/opinions...

I've dabbled in skiing for approx 12 years now, but only in the past 2-3 years have I really stepped up my game (making it out 15-20days/season in western Canada).  Two years ago I bought a used pair of Head iXRC 800 (156cm) with used Nordica boots.

I'm 5'9" and 140lbs; I'm kinda wondering if my current skis are too short? I'm really looking at bumping my technical abilities and aggressiveness.

I ski "everywhere..." powder if it's there, a little bit of backcountry, and a little bit of terrain park, but of course there will be plenty of groomed runs and moguls.

2 shops I was at today highly recommended the Nordica Nitrous, 163 or 170.

Another shop recommended Armada ARU or Line Prophet 90 or Line Blend; which are very different compared to the Nitrous.

Any thoughts on the above skis?  What kind of 'changes' would I notice if I switched from my current Head 800s?

Thanks!!!

Considering you like Powder, Backcountry, and a little Park, my vote goes to the Prophet 90.  Wide enough to float, skinny enough to carve, and twin tipped enough to do whatever else is left.  +1 for Prophets.

+2 on Prophets.

Look at the Volkl bridge too.

How do you manage to ski backcountry with alpine binders?  That must be miserable.

My hunch. He either thinks bc = off piste or he uses a Skidoo/Polaris "binder insert".

+3 on the Line 90

Hmmm. I'm gonna have to check into the Line Prophets for myself, too! I just bought a pair of Salomon Lords in a 185 (still wondering if I shoulda gone 177), but I guess it wouldn't hurt to add the Prophets to my quiver, eh?

or maybe it is just a bit of hiking with skis on shoulder, or easy access where you park at top (like Loveland pass) or go out some gates and "hitch" hike back
