I am pulling the trigger finally on a pair of last years model AC20's. I ski the AC2 now 90% of the time on the front side and and the fact that I have tried the AC30 and found it a bit stiff/hooky/grabby for my ability, and the fact I'll ski maybe 6 times this year the AC20 should continue to be fine.
What I am not so sure on it what length to get: stay on the 170cm's or go to 177cm. My AC2's are 170 and are comfortable. The AC 30's I tried (for two days) were 177cm.
I've read length can be a bigger issue than even brand in similar skis, and a size up (170 to 177cm in this case) can change ski characteristics and feel significantly. So I do not know if the 177cm AC 30's I did not like was more because of the more advanced ski or because of the longer length. I also do not have any idea how much benefit or harder the 177cm would be over the 170cm's in the AC 20's.
My weight is 175-180, height 6'1". I would rate a level 6 skier - just can't do the steeps. I ski lots of smaller and moderate turns more often than the wider GS type a majority of the time and mostly on blue and easier black runs. I love 4 to10" of new snow on the groomers.
The sizing charts I've seen go back and forth in suggesting which length to get. I won't be able to demo both sizes before I buy.
170cm - 177cm ?
